“Marriott VIP here. I almost never write reviews but this Ritz Carlton deserves one - PLEASE AVOID! Worst one I’ve stayed at and I’m a frequent flyer/ traveller. I should have trusted the reviews - I thought there’s a certain standard that a Ritz Carlton property will hold itself to, but I was proven wrong. Food: Kise (Teppanaki) is fine; Riva (the Italian) is hopelessly bad. The seafood pasta is so overcooked I can’t finish it. The grilled octopus is ice cold by the time it got to us. I saw good reviews for the Vitello Tonnato - it was so bland and just so bad I needed to ask for black pepper (because there’s almost no tuna sauce, and the black pepper dispenser on the table did not work) and Tabasco, and only because I was hungry and had to eat something. (In fairness, the Tiramisu was good.) What’s worse, there’s simply no food options on site - you can choose between burger and sandwich at Riva for lunch, or similarly limited options with room service (because no other restaurants on site serve lunch). There’s simply nothing else. On day 1 we had to have the afternoon tea set during lunch time because there’s no good options, and only because the staff was kind enough to let us order that before tea time. Service is otherwise subpar - I raised my hand for minutes before I actually get service at the restaurant - an unpleasant surprise for a supposedly luxury hotel in Japan. Even though I’m still staying at the property, I actually just booked tomorrow’s lunch at Halekulani (this is why I’m on Google maps and decided to write a review, which I’m also posting here), where we stayed previously - I simply cannot take another meal at this hotel. Oh and, the only hotel pool is mosquito-infested as the sun sets because of all the lights they put up - fine during the day though. They will drive you to nearby beaches, but the concierge just don’t know the area well enough - we were dropped off at a beach that’s closed by the time we were dropped off (to be fair it was 6pm but we were hoping to see the sunset and asked for recommendation) and had to call our own uber back because they don’t pick you up after 7pm. Please do yourself a favour and book Halekulani or Busena Terrace if you’d like to stay in the area.”

“Let me tell you about the hotel that saved our honeymoon and left us completely speechless. We had originally booked elsewhere in Okinawa. I will not name names, but the experience at the other hotel was so far below expectations that after just one night, we looked at each other and said: we are not spending our honeymoon here. So we packed our bags and walked next door to the Ritz-Carlton Okinawa. And that decision changed everything. From the second we stepped through those doors, we knew we were somewhere different. Somewhere special. Hitomi Adachi and the team did not just check us in. They welcomed us. They found out it was our honeymoon and from that moment on, every single interaction felt personal, warm, and genuinely thoughtful. This is not the kind of service you can train people to fake. This is a team that actually cares, and it shows in every detail. The room was breathtaking. The kind of room you do not want to leave in the morning. The kind of room you talk about for years. The views, the space, the quality of everything around you, it all felt considered and intentional. The location is stunning. Okinawa itself is paradise, but the Ritz sits within it in a way that feels effortless. The amenities matched everything else: impeccable, generous, and exactly what a honeymoon should feel like. We arrived disappointed. We left completely in love, not just with each other, but with this hotel, this team, and this island. The Ritz-Carlton Okinawa did not just meet our expectations. It reset them entirely. If you are celebrating something that matters, if you want to feel like a guest rather than a room number, if you want the kind of hospitality that you will still be talking about years from now, book this hotel. Do not hesitate. Do not look anywhere else. We will be back. That is not a hope. That is a promise.”
