“After a travel nightmare involving a different Columbus rental accommodation, the staff at Westin Great Southern were extremely helpful. My stay was made wonderful, pleasant and memorable. Thanks to the exceptionally personable, professional and efficient service from the invaluable Kayla at the front desk. Kayla was working a very busy check-in desk, alone, during peak time. Kayla was sympathetic to my plight. She went above and beyond delivering courteous, thoughtful and superb accommodations to ensure that I, along with my cat, were comfortable. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. Thank you Kayla!”

“Westin Hotel’s Great Southern, Columbus Ohio Mid-May 2026 I needed to be at a court hearing at the Common Pleas Court in Columbus, Ohio. Best choice: the Great Southern, now part of the Westin brand. The Great Southern is a two-block walk to the twin courthouses for Common Pleas (Civil, Criminal, Domestic) so it’s a sure and short walk from the hotel to the court. The room was simply furnished – no chair but a chaise lounge sofa; one USB port; no single-use plastics, a good blackout curtain, and a nightlight in the bathroom light switch. There’s a bar on site, and on the same block there’s Dempsey’s for pub food. Best thing for those on a budget who are arriving by air at CMH: the COTA bus #7 departs from the airport and stops in front of the hotel, for $2 (or a day pass costing $4.50). Note that the return trip is best taken at Mound and 4th Streets, about four blocks from the hotel. There’s a Dollar store four blocks from the hotel, and a broad selection of restaurants within a 15-minute walk. Cost for one night: Room Charge - Standard Retail $283.00 plus state ($22.64) and local taxes ($28.30) for a one-night total of $333.94. Perfectly reasonable in the area, especially for those with business at the courthouse. The room was clean, quiet, and accessible throughout. I was recognized as a Bonvoy member, was able to enter my room before check-in time without having to pay for the benefit. Check-out was seamless, and the front desk (Jennifer on check-in) was pleasant and efficient. Columbus was my home for more than 30 years, and it’s a wonderful place to visit. COSI is a ten-minute walk from the hotel; the marvelous Columbus Zoo is a 20-minute drive and always well worth it. While I hope I won’t need more court appearances, if I do, I’ll include Westin’s Great Southern Hotel in my list of possible hotels.”

“The staff were all so friendly. The bed was the comfiest bed I’ve ever friggen slept in. The ballroom was AMAZING.”
Worth knowing: The atm was out of service and I couldn’t pull cash out to get drinks at the event I was there for in the ballroom. BUT I just went to the bar downstairs and got a drink to go so it was all good.

“Central location”
Worth knowing: Our tub drained extremely slow which prevented us from taking proper showers, the room needs to be cleaned well there were items on floor .
