Tregenna Castle: Biden's G7 Base on the Cornish Coast

The castellated hilltop resort above St Ives where Joe Biden stayed for the 2021 G7 summit.

When the G7 came to Cornwall in June 2021, the leaders met at a beach resort in Carbis Bay, but the American president stayed just up the hill.

Tregenna Castle Resort

Perched above the fishing town of St Ives, Tregenna Castle is an eighteenth-century castellated house set in parkland with sweeping views over the bay. President Joe Biden made it his base for the 2021 G7, his first overseas trip as president. On his arrival, he and the first lady met Prime Minister Boris Johnson at the summit venue, where the two leaders viewed the Atlantic Charter. Each evening he returned to Tregenna Castle for the night.

Today the resort offers rooms in the castle and self-catering cottages across its grounds, with gardens, a golf course, and an easy walk down to the galleries and beaches of St Ives.
