The Peninsula opened on the Kowloon waterfront in 1928 and has been Hong Kong's grandest hotel ever since. It's also the only hotel in this series that can claim both James Bond and Batman.

The Man with the Golden Gun (1974)

Roger Moore's Bond follows Maud Adams's Andrea Anders, mistress of Christopher Lee's assassin Scaramanga, from Macau to Hong Kong, where she's collected by one of the Peninsula's green Rolls-Royces. Britt Ekland's Mary Goodnight tells Bond the hotel owns a fleet of them. It did then, and it does now: the fleet has since been updated to 14 long-wheelbase Rolls-Royce Phantoms, said to be the largest single order in Rolls-Royce's history. Only the driveway and entrance appear in the film; the room interiors were shot in a studio. The cast and crew stayed at the hotel.

The Dark Knight (2008)

Christopher Nolan brought Batman to Hong Kong for one of the film's most spectacular sequences, and part of it uses the roof of the Peninsula, where Christian Bale's Batman catches a passing aircraft to escape. Heath Ledger won a posthumous Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his Joker.
